The Battle To Be A Yummy Mummy

The reasons why I am without a doubt a fair way off being a yummy mummy!

1) I didn’t loose all my weight instantly.

2) I have stretch marks and can no longer grace the beaches in a tiny bikini.

3) My hair doesn’t always look shiny and glossy.

4) My underwear doesn’t always match. In fact I don’t think my matching sets fit me anymore!

5) I can’t afford the latest fashions now I have nappies, formula and their clothes to buy. I am not sure I even know what the latest fashions are!

6) I don’t smell of my own perfume brand, I smell of my children.

7) I can no longer spend hours enjoying shopping as this involves my 3 year old lying on the floor with everybody looking at my like I can’t control my children while my 1 year old screams for his next feed.

Now I love my children dearly and they are worth every single stretch mark, loose bit of skin and wrinkle, but I am green with envy every time I open the paper to see them gracing our pages looking elegant and flawless.

Whenever I catch my husband glancing through the paper and hovering over the pictures of the Yummy Mummy looking fabulous, I always like to casually remind him that If I was in fact a Hollywood star married to the likes of Brad Pitt, David Beckham or Ben Affleck then I to would look that fabulous!

The odd comment about how ‘Fatherhood also seems to have taken years off Brad Pitt’ are also dropped in to ensure his appreciation of the bearer of his children remains!

Staying on a diet for an endless amount of time can result in boredom and frustration. Losing weight does not have to be so difficult. Choose which days of the week you will stay on a healthy eating and exercising regime. If you want to ensure weight loss, make sure you do this for a majority of the time. You may want to eat the way you normally do on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and eat very carefully for the other days. Also choose the days you will exercise and make sure it is also a majority of days. On those days, exercise for at least thirty minutes at your maximum heart rate. Make sure this is alright with your medical doctor.

If you don’t, then that is fine but I am here to tell you that you’re potentially putting yourself at a much, much higher risk of health problems…now, in the future, and possible for the rest of your life! That’s not including the the problems associated with your confidence, and just generally being embarrassed of your unhealthy size.

Firstly, here are some quick facts for you -

  • In America: 64% of people are overweight and 27% are classified as obese.
  • In Europe: 48% of people are overweight.
  • Worldwide: 300 million people are obese and 750 million people are overweight.
  • Obesity costs on average $75 millions per year because of it’s long and expensive treatment.
  • But here is the worst bit: Obesity is responsible for between 325,000 to 400,000 deaths each year!

Alarming statistics right? Question is, are you one of (or soon to be) just another one of those statistics?

Reasons to Strip that fat!

Well is simple, here are just a few reason (or should I say health issues) that you may encounter if you don’t start building that healthy body. Apart from obviously being overweight or obese you are also at a much higher risk of experiencing:

  • thyroid problems (related to the rate of your metabolism)
  • diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • asthma
  •  coronary heart disease
  •  type 2
  •  diabetes cancer

…and the list could go on, but you get the picture. Would you really want any of these issues in your life?

Strip that Fat, Start Today!

1.  Have you ever heard that your eating (sorry, I hate the word diet) is 95% of the battle of the bulge? Well guess what, that right. Start by eating wholesome natural foods, including plenty of fruit, veges and legumes. Also whole grains such breads, pasta and rice (but limit these two a handful per meal). Together with lean proteins such as poultry, eggs, fish and lean meat. More importantly however, stay as clear from alcohol, and if you must a small glass of wine every now and then won’t hurt.

2. Variety is the key here, your body needs plenty of nutrition so make sure you mix it up and eat regularly smaller serving to keep that metabolism revved up and burning all day long. Aim for 5 – 6 smaller meals per day. Most importantly…never ever skip breakfast, your just setting yourself up for failure. A bowl of wholesome oatmeal is the best start to any persons day.

3.  I don’t care whether you 15 or 150 years old you can fit exercise in…and you must. Burning excess calories, rather than starving yourself is a much healthier (and better) way of losing weight. A good 1/2 hour per day at least 4 days per week should do the trick. Once again mix it up, so do one day Resistance training (or weights) and one day cardio (i.e. running). This will also stop you from getting bored. Don’t forget and this one is crucial, get plenty of rest between exercise, as this is when your body will rebuild and really lose weight.

Of course building your best body does not only requires the best nutrition, exercise and the best advice, it also require the mindset. Set goals, however small or big they may be and visualize yourself each and everyday being already in the body of your dreams. Belly fat is one of the most stubborn types of body fat to get rid of. This is because the body stores long-term fat deposits around your waist. The good news is that are several easy steps you can take to begin reducing your girth. Here are five of the best ways to do it:

# 1.  Have a healthy balanced diet

Eating plenty of fibre-rich foods is a simple and easy way to help lose your belly fat. Dietary fibre boosts your metabolism and keeps you feeling full so you don’t overeat. Fortunately, it is easy increase the amount of fibre in your diet simply by choosing whole grain versions of your favourite foods, including breads, cereals, and pastas. Include a variety of fibre-rich fruits and vegetables into your diet. Try to eat five portions of different fruits and vegetables a day. Reduce the amount of fat in your diet, particularly saturated and Trans fats. Many snacks and convenience foods have a high fat content, so these should be eaten in moderation.

# 2.  Reduce your portion size

“Super sizing” your favourite snack food or having large portions at meal times is a sure fire way of piling on the pounds. Having smaller portions is a good way to help lose your belly fat.

# 3.  Get sufficient sleep 

Studies have shown that getting insufficient sleep can increase the amount of  ”fat storage” hormones your body produces, which in turn can increase the amount of your belly fat. Having adequate amounts of sleep will help your body to optimize your metabolism and avoid weight gain.

# 4.  Take moderate amounts of exercise regularly

 Brisk walking for just 30 minutes a day can reduce your fat levels significantly. Walk to the local shop to buy your daily newspaper instead of taking the car. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Going swimming a couple of time a week or take up cycling. These are all forms of cardiovascular exercise that can help burn off excess belly fat, particularly when combined with a healthy balanced diet.

# 5. Drink less alcohol

Belly fat is not called “beer belly” for nothing!  Limit your alcohol consumption to one or two drinks per day as the calories in alcoholic beverages are easily stored as fat, especially belly fat.

All About The Master Cleanse Diet

The master cleanse diet is now enjoying a surge in interest due to the curvaceous look of Beyonce, although it has been around for more than 50 years already. Beyonce apparently lost weight for her role in “Dreamgirls” in a short space of time due to master cleanse diet. Reports also later revealed that a few other stars had also adopted this diet to gain the figure that many clamor for. The master cleanse diet is also known as the lemonade diet, the maple syrup diet or the cayenne pepper diet based on the ingredients.

The master cleanse diet is actually a detox diet. In fact, it is more like a fast. The master cleanse diet is explained in great detail in the book The Master Cleanser, by Stanley Burroughs, its originator. You may wish to get hold of it as it provides information about the techniques in fulfilling the lemonade diet plan.

The master cleanse is specifically designed to help you cleanse your body of toxins and not directly a weight loss program. However, by removing toxins, you not only lose weight but can also alleviate other chronic symptoms that you have been experiencing.

The master cleanse is great for the prevention of digestive diseases and disorders. The reason that this system seems to work so well is because most disease begin in the intestines, which is exactly the area that lemon cleansing targets. It is also a quick way to reduce your weight or control weight gain.

With the master cleanse diet, your kidneys and digestive system can be completely cleansed upon completion of the program; as will all cells and organs be purified. Any waste and calcifications or hardened areas within the joints and muscles will be flushed and pressure upon the nerves, arteries and blood vessels will be alleviated. Body fat is also lost during this process. Your bloodstream gets rejuvenated along with your overall appearance. You will find that the elasticity of your skin improves with the lemonade diet. Lemon is said to have the natural ability to act as a loosening and cleansing agent.

There are two different ways to go about the master cleanse diet. You can stay on the master cleanse diet for three to five days following a simple recipe for the lemon drink. During this time, you should abstain from eating any foods. Simply combine two tablespoons of fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice with two tablespoons of organic maple syrup (Grade B), and add ten to fourteen ounces of water. Also, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. You should mix the drink just before consuming, and the drink should be drunk every two hours. Some people even recommend that you can go on the master cleanse diet for 40 days. But generally, I do not advise any period longer than 7 days as this can have serious impact on the amount of nutrition needed to sustain your body. Also, be sure to check with your doctor about prolonged fasting.

The other way that the master cleanse can be done is to drink the beverage only in the morning, about three times per month. You can follow a regular healthy diet during this time. It is important to note that fresh, purified water can also be consumed during either method.

Before you start on the master cleanse, you would need to reduce your toxic load. This will mean that it is best that you do not consume any alcohol, coffee, sugars, processed foods and sodas. You also need to sleep well and ensure that you get some exercise. One without the other will not be nearly as beneficial to you. Then, after you complete the routine for the detox diet, you can expect to feel energized and rejuvenated!
